BENICIA — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Benicia’s 2026 Citywide Curb Ramp Project is listed as completed in August, following a May construction start. The city’s project record describes the replacement of 10 curb ramps and three driveways at seven locations.
Public infrastructure and community impact
Work sites include intersections at Military West and West Tenth Street, Corrigan Court and Drolette Way, Claverie Way and West J Street, sections of West Fifth Street, Marina Place and West Fourth Street, and First Street at Peggy Martin Lane.
The City Council approved the construction contract April 21. The city lists a budgeted construction cost of $219,540.75 and funding through Transportation Fund for Clean Air grants and a Solano Transportation Authority microgrant.
Curb ramps support access for people using wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and other mobility devices. Accessible routes depend not only on curb slopes but also on sidewalk width, surface condition, crossings and obstructions.
The project record identifies Sposeto Engineering as the contractor. Completion of these locations does not mean every curb ramp across Benicia now meets current standards. Residents can raise site-specific accessibility concerns with the engineering division.
